Browsing Borders today, came across the 2009 edition of this book for $9.99. It's huge, with tons of photos, chock full of camera and technique information. I put the photo magazines back on the shelf and am reading this 500+ page tome now.

That looks like a beaut of a book. The key is to understand what makes a good picture good... we know 'em when we see 'em, but don't always know why these photos seem to work like they do. This book should help educate your eye to see the world in different and picture-pleasing ways. Your new camera will handle the technical aspects of taking pictures... the rest is up to you. -WhiteFordFalcon
